Remember we talked about it on our FB page a few days ago, here is the answer about who is Kamlaurene 🙂
They are a couple of artist from Paris that started painting in 2012 and began to past in the streets in 2014. Since the beginning and as always, all their pieces are acrylic-painted by hand, they are all unique and never reproduced.
They give life to golden characters in the streets because they want to create a meeting between actual citizens of europeans cities and their over-technologic developed humans (the black eyes could represent a “supervision”, integrated zoom, night mode, etc.). The golden skin is related to rareness and preciosity. The streets allow an interaction for free, it’s a sharing that they are interested in, combined with the perception of real people is often different.
Regarding their style, they consider themselves “just” as traditional painters (with acrylic painting and brushes), therefore their approach is naïve and brut with a big focus on the colors especially, that are a permanent research for them.
Recently, they exhibited a solo show at the galerie le cabinet d’amateur in Paris and also participated in a caritative auction led by Artcurial for the Secours Populaire at Agnès b. galerie.
